Our Story

India is the most told country on earth. Long before you arrive, you have been handed a version of it: the one from the film, the one on the postcard, the one your neighbour brought home with their photographs and their five days and their certainty. Most travellers come holding someone else's story, and spend the whole journey trying to make the country fit it.

Nazim knows this, because he held one too. He is of this place, and still he grew up with an India handed to him: names to revere, monuments to admire, things one was meant to feel. It took him years, and a great deal of walking, to set that inherited version down and meet the country beneath it. That was the first retelling, and it was his own.

Because India has always retold itself. It is not a monument standing still to be photographed; it is a story passed from hand to hand, hearth to hearth, generation to generation. Every faith lays its verse over the last, every empire, every grandmother at every fire. What you take to be ancient and fixed is in truth a tale told and told again, kept alive only because someone, in each generation, chose to carry it onward. It is lore. And lore survives only in the telling.

His work is to place that living story in your hands. Not the brochure's India, not even his own, but one shaped slowly around you: where your mind wanders, what you came quietly hoping to feel. So that what you carry away is not a list of sights you have seen, but an India that is yours, and could belong to no one else.

And then comes the part that matters most: you become a teller too. You go home, and at your own table, in your own words, you retell it. The morning on the river, the thing the boatman said, the silence in the high monastery. The story moves onward through you, as it always has, to people who may never come and will carry a little of it regardless.
